El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to Discontinue Use of Flock Safety Cameras

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal announced today the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will discontinue its use of Flock Safety cameras, effective immediately.

The Sheriff’s Office will send Flock a notice of non-renewal and request Flock retrieve the equipment.

Sheriff Roybal remains confident in the policies and procedures governing the responsible use of technology and information within the Office. However, he has concerns about the future of the Flock Safety program and expected legislative changes in Colorado.

“Our responsibility is to protect our community, foster public trust, and serve the people,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “After careful consideration, I believe discontinuing our use of Flock cameras is the right decision for El Paso County and our citizens.”

The Office is committed to public safety and holding criminals accountable. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence-Based Operations Center (IBOC) provides deputies and investigators with access to investigative tools and law enforcement partnerships.

“We have the tools, training, and experience to locate and apprehend criminals without relying on Flock cameras,” Sheriff Roybal said. “Our commitment to public safety remains stronger than ever.”
