Arrest Following Assault in Security-Widefield Area

On November 2, 2025, at approximately 8:11 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a 911 call from a residence in the 200 block of Peck Court in the Security-Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County.

The reporting party stated a verbal altercation with a roommate had escalated and became physical. The caller said an adult male had assaulted them, and they were hiding in a locked room for safety.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and were met by the victim, who had visible injuries to their head.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old John Taylor, exited the residence and was detained by deputies. Taylor identified himself as a Deputy with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office.

Following interviews with both parties, the victim was treated by medical personnel at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Taylor was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

John Taylor was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

  • Second Degree Assault
  • Domestic Violence

He was released on November 4, 2025, on a $10,000 bond.
