El Paso County Sheriff and Fire Warden Joseph Roybal issued the following statement, rescinding Stage I Fire Restrictions for all unincorporated areas of El Paso County:

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal, Fire Warden, issued the following statement after implementing Stage I Fire Restrictions for all unincorporated areas of El Paso County last week:

On July 23, 2024, Samantha Peterson was booked into the El Paso County Jail on multiple traffic charges and an outstanding warrant. Ms. Peterson was offered the opportunity to surrender any contraband under Sheriff Roybal's Contraband Reduction Drug Amnesty Program, which she declined.

On August 1, 2024, around 2:30 a.m. the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call requesting a welfare check in the 13000 block of Halleluiah Trail in unincorporated El Paso County. The caller reported that a female at the residence was unresponsive.

Today, after a thorough review of current fire danger conditions and following the El Paso County Wildland Fire Restriction Evaluation Guidelines, Sheriff, and Fire Warden Joseph Roybal has implemented Stage I Fire Restrictions for all unincorporated areas of El Paso County.

Today, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal and Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell cross-deputized their Patrol and Investigations Units during a ceremony off HWY 24 on the El Paso/ Teller County line.

“This incident highlights the potentially deadly consequences of using Fentanyl. Without the quick and decisive actions of Deputy Klein and the medical staff at the El Paso County Jail, this individual would likely have died.

On July 2nd, 2024, the Colorado Springs Police Department arrested 49-year-old Edward Davidson on an outstanding warrant and transported him to the El Paso County Jail.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for our Citizens Academy. The academy will begin on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Today, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal joined Norris-Penrose Event Center General Manager Kyle Park to announce the strategic, long-term partnership between their Offices.

Due to the recent rain and precipitation, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has not issued a fire ban for unincorporated El Paso County. Nor has the Board of County Commissioners issued a firework ban.

On June 26, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communication’s Center received a call regarding a business alarm from the Springs Armory on Waynoka Road in unincorporated El Paso County.

Today, Sheriff Joseph Roybal and members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were awarded the Community Champion “JUICE” award during the Special Olympics of Colorado’s Annual Champion Breakfast in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office recently hosted a Regional Mounted Unit Academy at the Norris Penrose Event Center in El Paso County, Colorado.

Today at approximately 11:22 AM a call came in to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center.

The caller reported an adult male on a motorcycle shot at another vehicle in the vicinity of I-25 and South Academy.

On June 4, 2024, at approximately 10:00 am, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call reporting an ongoing disturbance between several adults in the 4300 block of Chamberlin S, in unincorporated El Paso County.

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, at approximately 2:35 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an officer-involved shooting involving officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department The incident occurred near E. Colorado Ave. and S. Nevada Ave. in downtown Colorado Springs.

On December 31, 2023, deputies received information of the potential presence of Fentanyl at the El Paso County Jail.  Deputies located and recovered the drugs before it could be ingested.  El Paso County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded and continued the investigation.

On May 8, 2024, deputies investigated a string of business burglaries in the 6000 block of Bismark Road in unincorporated El Paso County.

At approximately 7:33 p.m., a 911 call came into the El Paso County regional communications center where the reporting party stated there had been shots fired in a residence in the 10000 block of Abrams Drive in Lorson Ranch.

On May 21, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and CSPD TEU arrested 40-year-old Adam Turner on multiple felony charges related to a year-long mail theft operation which impacted the Meridian Ranch and Woodmen Hills neighborhoods in El Paso County.

As the lead investigating agency, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office provides the following additional information to the original media release from the Colorado Springs Police Department:

On May 16, 2024, at about 9:07 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check request in the 500 block of Cottonwood Dr. in unincorporated El Paso County. Upon arrival, deputies located two deceased adults, one male and one female.

On May 16, 2024, at 10:28 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting had occurred in the 6000 block of Chantilly Pl, in unincorporated El Paso County.  Multiple callers reported 6-10 shots fired in the area.

On Monday, April 29^th, an El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy was conducting a traffic stop with a semi-truck near Hwy. 24 and Garrett Rd. After concluding the traffic stop, Deputy Joshua Offutt noticed a white Ford pickup truck, weaving into the lane towards him.
