Domestic Violence Suspect Taken into Custody on Buffalo Horn Drive

On August 12, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a call from a reporting party who stated they had been assaulted in their home in the 7800 block of Buffalo Horn Drive (near South Powers Boulevard) in unincorporated El Paso County.

Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the scene, identified the suspect as 32-year-old Tyler Babb, and issued an attempt-to-locate notice to alert local law enforcement.

Additionally, deputies advised the victim to call again if the suspect returned to the residence.

At approximately 11:15 PM the same day, the victim contacted deputies, reporting the suspect’s phone location showed him near the residence. Deputies instructed the victim to leave the home and immediately responded to the area.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the suspect entering the garage with his vehicle, closing the door after driving in. Deputies positioned their patrol vehicles in front of the garage to prevent the suspect from leaving in his vehicle.

Subsequently, officers from the Fountain Police Department arrived to assist.

While outside, deputies and the officers heard a vehicle engine revving inside the garage. At the same time, the victim told deputies the suspect had sent a message stating he was “going to kill himself by CO2 poisoning.” Deputies and the officer entered the residence through the open front door and approached the interior garage door. Babb exited the vehicle and charged toward them, prompting deputies to deploy multiple less-lethal pepper ball rounds.

Babb then re-entered the vehicle, opened the garage door, and attempted to flee, striking a deputy’s patrol vehicle. He then exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.

Babb was treated at the scene, transported to a local hospital for medical clearance, and then booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

-Third Degree Assault

-Menacing

-Harassment

Sheriff Joe Roybal stated, “This was an extremely dangerous situation for the victim, my deputies, and the surrounding neighbors. The suspect’s repeated threats and violent actions demonstrate he has no place on the streets of our community. I am proud of the rapid and coordinated response by our deputies and the assisting officers from the Fountain Police Department, which prevented this incident from escalating further.”

Babb was released with a PR Bond on 8/13/25.
