El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Texas Fugitive Wanted for Aggravated Sexual Assault on a Minor

On August 5, 2026, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a call from an investigator with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office in Belton, Texas, regarding the possible location of a wanted fugitive.

Investigators with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) advised 22-year-old Geronimo Soto was wanted on an arrest warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault on a Child and was believed to be at a residence in the 4300 block of Erickson Drive in the Stratmoor Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

Deputies assigned to the Fugitive Impact Team (FIT) and the Intelligence-Based Operations Center (IBOC) immediately launched an investigation. A Drone as a First Responder (DFR) was deployed and located Soto’s vehicle in the area, providing deputies with valuable real-time information.

FIT deputies responded and took Soto into custody without incident.

Soto was transported to the El Paso County Jail, where he is being held on a felony warrant and pending extradition to Texas.

“Strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies are essential to protecting our communities, no matter where a crime occurs,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “The quick coordination between the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, our Fugitive Impact Team, and the Intelligence-Based Operations Center demonstrates how technology and teamwork help us locate and safely apprehend dangerous fugitives. We remain committed to supporting our law enforcement partners and ensuring criminals cannot find safe haven in El Paso County.”
