Today, Sheriff Joe Roybal and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office members attended the 19th Annual Ken Jordan Awards Ceremony, recognizing law enforcement personnel in the Pikes Peak region who have achieved excellence in DUI enforcement.
This award ceremony is named in honor of fallen Colorado Springs Police Officer Ken Jordan, who was shot and killed during a traffic contact with a drunk driver in December of 2006.
The Ken Jordan Award for Excellence in DUI Enforcement is presented to a law enforcement officer who has demonstrated outstanding achievement regarding impaired driving enforcement. The Pikes Peak DUI Task Force created the award to honor Jordan’s life and acknowledge individual peers who put in extra effort to prevent drunk driving in their communities.
2025 Ken Jordan Award for Excellence in DUI Enforcement Nominees:
Colorado Springs Police Department Officer Jacob Crispi. Colorado Springs Police Department Officer Travis Hanable, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Alvara Acuna, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Jonathan Kay, Fort Carson Police Department Sergeant Camilla Violette, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chad Johnson, and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Joshua Offutt.
During the ceremony, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Joshua Offutt was announced as the prestigious Ken Jordan Award winner.
2025 Career Achievement Award Nominees:
Pikes Peak State College Police Department Sergeant Chad Bauer, Fort Carson Police Department Chief Brandon Graber, and Colorado Springs Police Department Lieutenant Jason Reeser.
Because of his extensive service and the hundreds of lives saved as a result of his work and dedication, Pikes Peak State College Police Department Sergeant Chad Bauer received the 2024 Career Achievement Award.
“I thank Deputies Offutt and Johnson, along with all the nominees this year, for their critical service to our community and their steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety of drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians on the roads of El Paso County,” said Sheriff Joe Roybal. “Our Traffic Unit and patrol deputies operate proactively, day and night, throughout weekends and holidays, addressing numerous traffic safety concerns, including DUI enforcement.
“For years, El Paso County held the unfortunate distinction of being number one in Colorado for traffic deaths. However, this rate has steadily decreased due to the collective efforts of law enforcement, including education and enforcement, over the past few years.
“Across El Paso County, we are sending a clear message to drivers: pay attention, adhere to posted speed limits and traffic laws, and never drive under the influence.
“Congratulations to this year’s nominees and award recipients. A heartfelt thank you to the Pikes Peak DUI Task Force and our law enforcement partners across Colorado for recognizing these truly deserving individuals.”
