El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Murder-Suicide in Gleneagle

On September 7, 2026, at approximately 9:47 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was contacted regarding a suspicious incident in the 14000 block of Nichlas Court in the Gleneagle area of unincorporated El Paso County.

The caller requested a welfare check on their neighbor, an adult female who had not been seen for several days. A vehicle belonging to the woman’s estranged husband, 64-year-old Donald Johnson, was also parked in the driveway.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Monument Police Department responded to the residence.

Deputies were unable to contact anyone inside. Due to concerns for the woman’s safety and well-being, deputies forced entry. Deputies used a Drone as a First Responder (DFR) for an initial search.

Upon entering the home, deputies located two deceased individuals, an adult male and female.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the female as 53-year-old Yoon Jung Shin. Our Office extends its condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.

Johnson was also found deceased inside the residence. He died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Detectives from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office have assumed responsibility for the investigation, with assistance from the Metro Crime Lab.  Currently, the case is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.  The official cause and manner of death will be released by the El Paso County Coroner.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
