FLOCK Safety Cameras Assist in Arrest of Attempted Murder Suspect

On September 20, 2025, at approximately 5:58 PM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received an alert from the FLOCK Safety camera system regarding a vehicle tied to a felony warrant. The vehicle, a black Toyota Prius with Colorado license plate CPQA40, was associated with attempted murder suspect 41-year-old Michael McGinnis. The vehicle was detected traveling near Highway 85 and Main Street.

Thanks to the FLOCK alert, Fountain Police Department officers quickly located the suspect vehicle in the Walmart parking lot. Officers positively identified the vehicle and conducted a non-contact block, ensuring public safety while taking a high-risk suspect into custody. McGinnis complied with commands and was safely arrested without incident.

Following the arrest, deputies coordinated with the Colorado Springs Police Department and transferred McGinnis into their custody.

Sheriff Joseph Roybal emphasized the value of the FLOCK Safety system and the strength of regional partnerships:

“This case demonstrates why our investment in FLOCK Safety cameras is vital. These cameras provide real-time intelligence, enabling deputies and our law enforcement partners to respond rapidly, protect the public, and remove dangerous individuals from the streets. I extend my gratitude to Fountain Chief of Police Mark Cristiani and Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez for their ongoing partnership and unwavering commitment to public safety efforts in the Pikes Peak region.

“Together, we are building stronger, safer communities for the citizens we serve.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to leveraging advanced technology, strong partnerships, and proactive policing strategies to protect the citizens of El Paso County.
