Repeat Offender Injured After Confrontation with Armed Homeowner in Stratmoor Valley

On August 13, 2025, around 5:32 AM, the El Paso County Regional Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from an elderly resident in the Stratmoor Valley Mobile Home Park on Wooddale Road in unincorporated El Paso County.

The caller reported an intruder inside their home. The homeowner told dispatchers they asked the man to leave, but he refused. A physical struggle followed, during which the homeowner stabbed the suspect.

The suspect fled the residence. Thankfully, the homeowner was unharmed.

When El Paso County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies arrived, they found the suspect had run through two neighboring yards, damaging fences, before collapsing in one of the backyards.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Gareth Webb, a previously convicted felon, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Once medically cleared, Webb will be booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

-1st Degree Trespassing

-2nd Degree Burglary

-2nd Degree Criminal Trespassing

-Harassment

-Criminal Mischief

Sheriff Joe Roybal stated, “This individual has a long history of criminal behavior and should not be on the streets of our community. Prolific, violent offenders like Webb put innocent community members at risk, and we will continue to pursue every legal avenue to keep them behind bars where they cannot harm others. I want to commend my deputies for their rapid response in containing the suspect, and I also want to recognize the homeowner for their quick thinking and courage in a frightening situation.”
