Sheriff’s Office Investigates Homicide on Crawford Avenue

This morning, at approximately 5:46 am, an El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting a routine patrol, traveling eastbound on Crawford Ave in the Security-Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County.

While driving, the deputy came upon a stopped vehicle on the road at Crawford Ave. and Withington Dr., which was believed to be an abandoned vehicle or possibly a DUI.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy observed an unresponsive adult male on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The deputy requested medical assistance and called for backup.

El Paso County deputies began rendering medical aid. Soon after, members of the Security Fire Department arrived on the scene and took over medical assistance.

At 6 am, life-saving measures ceased.

This is being investigated as a homicide and is believed to be an isolated incident.
