Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide Following Reported Robbery in Cimarron Hills

On July 7, 2026, at approximately 1:04 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received multiple calls reporting a shooting near the 2300 block of Reed Grass Way in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies responded to the area and located an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts until personnel from the Falcon Fire Protection District arrived. Fire personnel continued life-saving measures; however, despite those efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the initial investigation, deputies learned that at least four masked individuals entered the residence and stole items from the occupants in an apparent robbery before fleeing the area.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division remain on scene and are expected to be in the area for the foreseeable future as the investigation continues.

At this time, investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the community.

The identity of the decedent will be determined and released by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin.

This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident or who may have video footage from the area is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 719-390-5555.
