Sheriff’s Office Responds to Critical Incident in Black Forest, Deploys Resources to Ensure Community Safety

Yesterday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from our federal partners with Homeland Security (HSI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) related to an incident near an active construction site in the Black Forest area of unincorporated El Paso County.

While Federal Agents were conducting targeted enforcement and investigation operations, they were met with violence and responded with the use of force, resulting in a critical incident.

Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call and subsequently set up a containment area of the crime scene to preserve its integrity and ensure a thorough investigation.

Deputies conducted a door-to-door knock on residential homes in the impacted neighborhoods to ensure community members were safe and free from harm.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deployed numerous resources to ensure the safety of our community, including deputies assigned to the Patrol Division, Civil Unit, School Resource Officers, Reserves, Tactical Enforcement Unit (including the deployment of drones), and our Community Service Specialists.
