Two Suspects Arrested in Connection to Vehicle Break-Ins on Red Baron Drive

On September 30, 2025, at approximately 1:45 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a report of two individuals attempting to break into a vehicle in the 3000 block of Red Baron Drive in unincorporated El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies responded and quickly coordinated a containment plan, entering the neighborhood from multiple access points to prevent the suspects from fleeing. While canvassing the area, deputies located two females wearing black hoodies who matched the description provided by the caller.

The suspects were identified as 43-year-old Melissa Estrada and 38-year-old Jessica Wyant.

Wyant initially provided deputies with a false name. She admitted to attempting to open a vehicle door, claiming she believed it to be the residence of a former partner. During the time of the incident, Wyant was on parole for previous identity theft charges.

Home surveillance footage from the neighborhood showed two individuals wearing clothing consistent with Estrada’s and Wyant’s attire attempting to enter multiple vehicles.

Further investigation linked both suspects to four vehicle break-ins in the area.

Melissa Estrada was served and released on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Criminal Trespass of an Automobile.

Jessica Wyant was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on charges of Criminal Impersonation and Attempted Criminal Trespass of an Automobile. She is currently being held on a $1,000 bond.

“This case is a perfect example of how community vigilance and swift response from deputies work hand in hand to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “I am grateful to the citizen who reported suspicious activity and proud of the coordinated efforts of our deputies, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects before further crimes could occur. Together, we can reduce victims and protect the quality of life in the Pikes Peak region.”

This remains an active investigation.
