Update- El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide Following Traffic Accident

On August 26, 2025, at approximately 8:10 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a report of a three-vehicle traffic accident near the intersection of Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive (near Judge Orr Road) in unincorporated El Paso County.

The reporting party indicated a passenger in one of the vehicles—a white pickup truck towing a black trailer—appeared to be seriously injured or deceased, and life-saving efforts were attempted but unfortunately unsuccessful. The reporting party also stated the driver of the vehicle with the deceased passenger had left the scene.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, along with troopers from the Colorado State Patrol, responded to the scene. Deputies observed the victim’s injuries were inconsistent with those typically associated with traffic accidents, prompting a criminal investigation. It has now been determined the adult male is a victim of homicide.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating several leads and requesting assistance from the public.

Community members who were traveling near Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on August 26 or who work/reside in the area are asked to review their vehicle dashboard, (home or business) security, and Ring camera footage for suspicious individuals traveling on foot or in a white pickup truck towing a black trailer.

Any relevant information should be reported to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (719) 520-7777.

At this time, no other injuries have been reported at the scene. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased individual, as well as the cause and manner of death.
