Update on Suspicious Death Investigation in Midway Estates

On September 14, 2024, at approximately 3:53 pm, a call came into the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center, where the reporting party stated there was a deceased individual located in a field in Midway Estates, near the intersection of El Hambre View and Rancho Colorado Boulevard in unincorporated El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies responded, found a deceased adult male, and secured the scene.

This is an active ongoing investigation. Our Office will release additional details to the public as they become available.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 43-year-old Michael Whitcomb.  We extend our condolences to those affected by Mr. Whitcomb’s death.

The case is being investigated as a homicide, although the official cause and manner have not been released by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

There is no known threat to the public or surrounding neighborhood.
