Victim Identified in Highway 24 Homicide Investigation

On August 26, 2025, at approximately 8:10 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a report of a three-vehicle traffic accident near the intersection of Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive (near Judge Orr Road) in unincorporated El Paso County.

The reporting party indicated that a passenger in one of the vehicles—a white pickup truck towing a black trailer—appeared to be seriously injured or deceased. Life-saving efforts were attempted but were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and immediately began an extensive investigation, including efforts to locate and identify the driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene following the crash.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Noel Gutierrez-Cano. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Mr. Gutierrez-Cano sustained at least one gunshot wound. His official cause and manner of death will be determined after the completion of the autopsy report.

Our condolences are with Mr. Gutierrez-Cano’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Community members who were traveling near Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on August 26—or who live or work in the area—are encouraged to review vehicle dashcam, home, or business security footage for any suspicious individuals or activity, particularly involving a white 2013 GMC Sierra Denali pickup truck towing a black trailer.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate several leads and asks anyone with information regarding the vehicle or potential suspects to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (719) 520-7777.
