Sheriff’s Office, Community Partners Conduct Homeless Camp Clean Up in B Street Area

Today, deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with El Paso County Code Enforcement and “Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful,” conducted a cleanup operation in the B Street area of unincorporated El Paso County.

This effort was launched in response to numerous community complaints regarding increased pollution and criminal activity in the area.

In advance of the operation, deputies posted notices to vacate and contacted individuals at the site, offering information on available local resources and support services.

During the cleanup, deputies encountered several multi-tent encampments, along with abandoned bicycles, shopping carts, pets, medications, and significant amounts of trash. In total, two large dumpsters were filled and removed from the area.

One individual was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear on a previous trespassing charge.

“I remain deeply concerned about the ongoing presence of this unlawful encampment,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “This location has a long and well-documented history of violence, including shootings, fires, and even a homicide, all directly connected to the activity within this encampment.”

“These conditions are unacceptable and pose a significant threat to the safety and well-being of the surrounding community. My Office will continue to monitor this area closely, enforce all applicable laws, and work in partnership with local residents and community organizations to restore order and ensure public safety.”
