El Paso County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit Receives $15k Donation

Recently, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit received a $15k donation from God’s Pantry Ministry, a non-profit organization in El Paso County.

The donation was inspired by a chance meeting and interaction between Deputy Ronnie Hancock, his (then) K9 partner Jinx, and a volunteer at God’s Pantry just days before K9 Jinx was killed in the line of duty on April 11, 2022, protecting his handler, partnering peace officers, and members of the community.

It was an honor to support our local law enforcement and first responders,” said Carey Adams, Owner of God’s Pantry Ministries, “they work hard to protect and serve us all. We chose to donate to the K9 Unit in memory of K9 Jinx and all K9 partners who have served beside peacekeepers over the years. It was an honor to give back and recognize the work of law enforcement and Jinx’s sacrifice.”

“I am thankful to Carey and the volunteers at God’s Pantry for their work serving our community and for their generous donation to our K9 Unit,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “This donation will allow our Office to further invest in additional training, equipment, and veterinary care for our hardworking K9 partners: Jack, Dex, Styx, and Knox.

“My Office is committed to protecting and serving our community, and we are grateful to have the support of our citizens across the Pikes Peak region.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office receives donations directly. For more information or if you are interested in donating, contact the Community Affairs Unit at SHRCommunity@elpasoco.com or 719-520-6196.
