Stolen Vehicle Recovered; Suspect Arrested on Multiple Charges

On September 30, 2025, at approximately 4:10 AM, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop on Carl Adams Point and Space Village Drive involving a white Ford Ranger with fictitious registration.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Thomas Hobbs, was found in possession of drug paraphernalia, which was observed in plain view by deputies. Hobbs was removed from the vehicle and detained.

A search of his person revealed approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine.

A criminal history check showed Hobbs has five prior narcotics convictions. He was transported to the El Paso County Jail to be booked on the following charges:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Fictitious Registration

During the intake process, deputies noticed Hobbs was unable to remain awake and showed signs of heavy narcotics intoxication. Jail medical staff were called and evaluated Hobbs.

Medical staff determined Hobbs was exhibiting symptoms consistent with fentanyl use. Two doses of Narcan were administered, and AMR was requested to transport Hobbs to a local hospital for further treatment.

Following proper medical clearance, he was returned to the El Paso County Jail and is currently being held without bond.

Sheriff Joseph Roybal stated, “This incident underscores the vigilance and professionalism of our deputies and medical staff. Their quick action prevented a potentially fatal overdose and ensured the safety of everyone in our facility. Our Office will continue to hold offenders accountable while safeguarding the well-being of those in our custody.”
