Multi-County Investigation Results in Five Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Property

On December 28, 2025, at approximately 3:38 AM, Patrol deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to A Storage Place in the 5800 block of Omaha Blvd. in unincorporated El Paso County. The reporting party stated a burglary was in progress, and an unknown suspect had forced entry through a gate.

Three storage units had been burglarized, and at least two motor vehicles were stolen.

When deputies arrived on scene, they encountered an adult male who fled on foot to a neighboring apartment complex after seeing deputies. Additionally, two suspects fled the scene in separate vehicles.

One of the vehicles was identified, leading detectives to identify 50-year-old Justin Hudson as one of the suspects.

On April 15, 2026, Detectives with the Investigation Division arrested Hudson on charges of Criminal Mischief, Second-Degree Burglary, Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft, and Theft. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail. On April 16, 2026, he was released on a $10,000 bond, as set by Colorado statute.

Between January and June 2026, Detectives executed numerous search warrants based on information gathered during the initial investigation throughout El Paso, Teller, and Lincoln counties.

The search warrants yielded the following stolen, altered, or defaced property from multiple jurisdictions, including El Paso County, Colorado Springs Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Woodland Park Police Department, and Loveland Police Department:

  • Five vehicles
  • Seven motorcycles or dirt bikes
  • Three trailers
  • Two ATVs
  • One tiny home or estate trailer

On July 14, 2026, Hudson was arrested on an additional arrest warrant. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail and charged with theft. Following a same-day arraignment, he was released on a $15,000 bond, as determined by Colorado statute.

Further investigation linked Hudson to several additional criminal cases, and his charges were amended to include the following:

  • Nine counts of Motor Vehicle Theft
  • 10 counts of Felony Theft
  • Four counts of Burglary
  • Three counts of Criminal Mischief
  • Two counts of Chop Shop Activity/Altered or Removed ID Number

“This case is an outstanding example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together with a shared commitment to protecting our communities,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “I want to thank our law enforcement partners across El Paso, Teller, and Lincoln counties, along with the Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, and Loveland Police Departments, and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, for their collaboration and dedication throughout this investigation.

“I also want to recognize my Detectives for their relentless commitment to seeking justice for victims. Their determination, professionalism, and investigative work led to the recovery of stolen property, the identification of multiple suspects, and the removal of a prolific and dangerous criminal from our community. Their efforts send a clear message: if you commit crimes in El Paso County, we will pursue every lead, hold you accountable, and work tirelessly to protect the people we serve.”

Assistance from the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office was made possible through grant funding aimed at reducing motor vehicle theft in Colorado.
