On April 19, 2026, at approximately 1:00 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received multiple reports of a shooting near Doris Drive and Security Boulevard in unincorporated El Paso County.
Upon arrival, patrol deputies discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies immediately provided medical aid until the Security Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
According to the victim, they encountered three individuals attempting to break into their vehicle. When the victim confronted the group, one of the suspects fired a shot, striking them.
Deputies, assisted by officers from the Fountain Police Department, conducted an extensive search of the area, which included the deployment of drones. The suspects were not located.
