El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Honors Service and Excellence at 23rd Annual Awards Banquet

Last week, during a ceremony held at the Marriott Hotel Colorado Springs, Sheriff Joseph Roybal and members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office gathered to celebrate personal achievements, office-wide milestones, and community-driven service at the 23rd Annual Awards Banquet Ceremony.

The evening highlighted the dedication and longevity of the agency’s personnel, from sworn, professional, and volunteer staff. Fourteen individuals were recognized for reaching 20 years of service, three marked 25 years, and three achieved the significant milestone of 30 years with the Office. Collectively, these honorees represent more than 445 years of service dedicated to the citizens of El Paso County.

In brief remarks, Sheriff Roybal highlighted the people and partnerships behind the agency’s success.

“This Office is defined by its people and the standard of excellence they uphold every day,” said Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Year after year, you meet growing challenges with professionalism, resilience, and integrity—delivering for the community we serve.”

In addition to service milestones, numerous awards were presented in recognition of acts of bravery, professionalism, innovation, and commitment to public safety in the Pikes Peak region.

These honors included:

  • Medals of Valor (eight Sworn recipients)
  • Distinguished Service Award (seven Sworn and two Civilian recipients)
  • Achievement Award (six Sworn, one Posse Member, and two Civilian recipients)
  • Life Saving Medal (six Sworn and two County Security Officer recipients)
  • Meritorious Service Award (two Sworn and four Professional Staff recipients)
  • Community Recognition Award (New Life Church and El Paso Teller County 9-1-1- Authority)
  • The Tanya M. Bell Achievement Award
  • The Micah Flick Narcotic Enforcement Award
  • Employee of the Month (Sworn and Professional Staff)

The event also recognized excellence at the highest level, with Volunteer Coordinator Hayley Suppes and Detective Marissa Williams being honored as the 2025 Employees of the Year.

El Paso County Deputies Investigate Early Morning Shooting During Attempted Car Break-In

On April 19, 2026, at approximately 1:00 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received multiple reports of a shooting near Doris Drive and Security Boulevard in unincorporated El Paso County.
