El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Celebrates 10 Dedicated School Resource Officers on SRO Appreciation Day

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes and honors our 10 School Resource Officers (SROs) and the dedicated SRO Sergeant who oversees and supports the program across six school districts throughout El Paso County on School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, February 15, 2026.

Our SROs are assigned to the following districts:

  • Widefield School District 3
  • Lewis-Palmer School District 38
  • Falcon School District 49
  • Academy School District 20
  • Hanover School District 28
  • Ellicott School District 22

These deputies serve as mentors, educators, protectors, and role models to thousands of students each day. While their primary responsibility is ensuring campus safety, their impact extends far beyond security. They build trusted relationships with students and staff, support positive decision-making, assist with conflict resolution, and collaborate closely with administrators to maintain safe and welcoming learning environments.

The program is led by a dedicated SRO Sergeant who provides supervision, coordination, and guidance to ensure consistency, professionalism, and strong partnerships within each school district. Through strategic oversight and daily support, the Sergeant plays a critical role in strengthening the SRO program’s effectiveness across the Pikes Peak region.

Through proactive engagement, classroom presentations, and daily interactions, our School Resource Officers foster mutual respect between law enforcement and the communities we serve. Their presence strengthens not only school safety but also the overall well-being of our youth.

“The School Resource Officer program is one of the most important partnerships we have in our community,” said Joseph Roybal, Sheriff of El Paso County. “Our deputies are more than law enforcement officers on campus — they are mentors, protectors, and positive role models. I am incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our SROs and the leadership of our SRO Sergeant, Josie Haag, in keeping our schools safe and building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the strong partnerships we share with Widefield School District 3, Lewis-Palmer School District 38, Falcon School District 49, Academy School District 20, Hanover School District 28, and Ellicott School District 22. Together, we remain committed to protecting our students and supporting their success.

On this SRO Appreciation Day, we extend our sincere thanks to our School Resource Officers and SRO Sergeant for their professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the safety and future of our community’s children.
