Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest in Attempted Murder Case

On May 12, 2025, at approximately 5:05 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 19000 block of Crows Nest Way, located in the Woodmoor area of unincorporated El Paso County. The caller reported an adult female had sustained severe injuries and they were providing medical aid.

Deputies arrived on scene and located the victim, who was suffering from significant injuries to her upper body. She was transported to a local hospital by the Monument Fire Department and remains in critical condition.

Detectives from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Preliminary findings indicated the suspect, 21-year-old Nicholas Looper, assaulted the victim during a domestic dispute. Investigators determined Looper struck and stabbed the victim during the incident. Looper was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and booked into the El Paso County Jail, where he is being held on a $200,000 bond.
