Victims Identified in Highway 85 Double Homicide Investigation

On July 3, 2025, at approximately 10:45 PM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a robbery in the area of Highway 85 near Main Street in unincorporated El Paso County.

Deputies responded to the area and located a vehicle parked along the side of Highway 85/87. Inside the vehicle, they discovered two deceased individuals.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has since identified the victims as 24-year-old Rylee Ferari and a 16-year-old juvenile.

Detectives from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

As the investigation progressed, 23-year-old Eddie Lacharles Jackson was identified as a person of interest.

Subsequently, detectives determined Jackson was at Denver International Airport and coordinated with local authorities at the Denver Police Department, who located and detained Mr. Jackson.

After their arrival, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested and charged Jackson with two counts of Second-Degree Murder.

Eddie Jackson is currently being held at the El Paso County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of Rylee Ferari and the young juvenile victim. No family should ever endure the pain of losing a loved one to such senseless violence,” said Sheriff Joe Roybal. “Our agency is committed to ensuring justice is served in every corner of El Paso County. I am proud of the detectives and patrol deputies who worked tirelessly and relentlessly to secure a quick arrest in this case.”

We thank the Fountain Police Department, Colorado Springs Police Department, and Denver Police Department for their valuable assistance in the investigation.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (719) 520-7777.
