North Academy Boulevard Officer Involved Shooting Update

On April 13, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) officers responded to a disturbance involving multiple individuals in the 4900 block of North Academy Boulevard.

As the first officer arrived on the scene, she heard at least one gunshot and saw a female lying on the ground. Upon exiting her vehicle, the officer was fired upon and returned fire, discharging at least one round in the direction of the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

As the officer approached the area, they discovered a female victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

The suspect is currently at large. He is described as a Black male in his 50s, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing dark-colored pants, possibly jeans, a black and white hoodie, and a hat. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into both the officer-involved shooting and the shooting of the female victim. This was an isolated incident, and the parties involved knew each other.
