This week, U.S. Congressman Jeff Crank (CO-05) announced a major Community Project Funding victory included in the Fiscal Year 2026 Commerce, Justice, and Science (FY26 CJS) Appropriations Bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. Among the approved projects is dedicated funding for the purchase of a new rescue vehicle for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The new vehicle will replace the County’s aging rescue unit, which plays a vital role in protecting both the public and deputies during high-risk incidents. Over the past year alone, this specialized vehicle has responded to more than 275 dangerous situations, including barricaded suspects, high-risk warrant operations, and critical rescue missions.
“I am proud to announce my office has secured essential funding to support public safety in Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District,” said Congressman Jeff Crank. “This investment not only helps ensure the safety of our communities but also reinforces our commitment to the brave men and women who serve on the front lines. By partnering with Sheriff Roybal and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office along with other local agencies, we are strengthening our collaborative efforts to safeguard lives and support the critical work of law enforcement and first responders. This new rescue vehicle will preserve a life-saving capability on which our region depends.”
“I am incredibly grateful to Congressman Crank for his dedicated efforts in securing this critical public safety funding for the citizens of the Pikes Peak region,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “The acquisition of a new rescue vehicle is not just an investment in equipment—it’s an investment in the safety of our entire community, the well-being of my deputies, and the protection of our law enforcement and first responder partners across Colorado.
This type of specialized resource enhances our ability to respond to high-risk incidents with greater effectiveness and confidence.
“Our mission is clear: reduce the number of victims, hold criminals accountable, and do so while prioritizing the safety of all involved. The addition of a new Armored Rescue Vehicle (ARV) is a vital tool which helps us fulfill our overall mission. We are proud to stand with our federal partners in a strong and ongoing commitment to public safety and community protection.”
